As another part of our Club Assembly, Mike Dungan made a presentation on "The Declaration of Rotarians in Businesses and the Professions".  Mike has a framed copy of the declaration on his office wall and he thinks that all club members would be well-served to put one on their office walls as a statement of their ethical beliefs.  It is now being included in our new member packets.  The Declaration, along with the 4-Way Test, are moral codes for all aspects of our lives but with particular emphasis on our business and professional lives.
Mike went on to make the case that joining a Rotary club is like entering a contractual agreement that requires a member to make a personal commitment to the causes and activities of Rotary.  He would like to see each club member commit to at least two projects in writing and to expect to be called to fulfill the personal obligations pledged therein.

Mike made these specific recommendations to improve the club:
1. Each week, send a general club email blast announcing the next four weeks of scheduled speakers.  Include the Secretary for each valley club as well as Superior, Globe and Florence. In addition, include previous speakers.
2. One month prior to our club's new leadership installation in July, send a general club email blast listing the various activities we endorse and requesting each member to pick at least 2-4 activities for the year.  Print, sign the form and return to our Secretary.  It is then the activity director's responsibility to keep his "committed cats corralled".
3. Members who have been lax in attendance should be contacted by phone by the Sargent-at-Arms or a designated deputy.  A follow-up visit from a couple of Rotarians may help discover if the club is failing this member in some way.
4. The form in 2 above should be filled out when a person joins the club and annually thereafter.
